INTRODUCTORY DOCUMENTATION
This first section of the portfolio requires you to include documents from previous learning experiences and to make plans for the future. You will update these plans and document additional experiences over the years of enrollment at APU.
After you have prepared these materials, assemble them in the ring binder. If you are completing this stage at the freshman or sophomore transfer level, you might look ahead to the next section to see what the overall layout of the fully developed portfolio should look like. You can set up the dividers for the various competencies, placing empty plastic sleeves in these sections. As you take courses during the next few semesters, save graded papers and exams that you feel represent your best work. Place these materials in empty plastic sleeves that you have positioned in the competency sections. Make notes to yourself about particular achievements, especially with respect to the various university competencies as you fulfill them. Enter these notes in your computer file.
If you are completing this introductory section in order to prepare for the junior year review or to challenge specific courses for credit on the basis of Documented Experiential Learning (the DEL Folder), go on to the next relevant section.
